A 67-year-old woman was res­cued on Sun­day af­ter she broke her an­kle while hik­ing at El Torcal out­side An­te­quera. The 112 emer­gency line re­ceived a call at 2.20pm re­port­ing the in­ci­dent, and fire­fight­ers, po­lice and medics were dis­patched to the scene. Fire­fight­ers hiked in and car­ried the woman out to the am­bu­lance, which took her to the An­te­quera hos­pi­tal.


A mag­ni­tude 4 earth­quake off the coast of Málaga was felt in many ar­eas of the prov­ince last Fri­day af­ter­noon. The quake hit at 6.19pm with an epi­cen­tre 11 kilo­me­tres deep. No dam­age was re­ported but the tremor was felt in Málaga city and other coastal and in­land towns of the prov­ince, as well as on the Granada coast.

Rincón de la Vic­to­ria town hall has launched a tree-prun­ing cam­paign that will be car­ried out through­out the mu­nic­i­pal­ity dur­ing the au­tumn and win­ter. Work has started in Rincón, af­ter which it will be car­ried out in La Cala del Moral, Be­na­gal­bón and Torre de Be­na­gal­bón. The ex­act time­line of the work will de­pend on weather and other fac­tors, said of­fi­cials.


Close to a hun­dred peo­ple en­joyed an acous­tic din­ner con­cert by Ro­nan Keat­ing in Mar­bella on Satur­day night in ben­e­fit of the Global Gift Foun­da­tion. The event at La Sala in Puerto Banús came as part of a char­ity golf week­end put on by the Ir­ish singer at the Mar­bella Club re­sort. The tour­na­ment and din­ner con­cert to­gether rose over €40,000 for Global Gift, said the char­ity.
