Dénia restaurateur in the dock for rape
A restaurant owner accused of raping a woman on his Dénia premises is facing 12 years in prison, according to the prosecution.
The accused, along with another man, is said to have met the victim and a male friend of hers in a nightclub and, after some time chatting, invited the group back to his restaurant.
Once there, they put music on and drank alcohol, the case notes say.
The victim became very drunk, and the restaurateur took advantage of her and sexually assaulted her.
She also suffered injuries to her knees, arms and elbows.
The trial was due to commence on Tuesday this week at Alicante provincial court, more than two-and-a-half years after the attack.
So far, the restaurant and its owner have not been named.
