Ali­cante city chil­dren go back to school early

IN­FANT school and pri­mary school pupils in Ali­cante City will be go­ing back to school to­day (Friday, Septem­ber 7), while the rest of schools in the Va­len­cia re­gion will re­turn to their class­rooms next Mon­day, Septem­ber 10.

The rea­son for bring­ing for­ward the dates for Ali­cante city, is to al­low schools to close on June 20, 2019, which is the date the city’s ‘hoguera’ mon­u­ments are set up.

An­other change to the city’s school cal­en­dar is that there will be classes on San Vi­cente (Mon­day, April 29) which is a school hol­i­day through­out the Va­len­cia re­gion. To com­pen­sate Ali­cante city’s pupils and teach­ers will have Friday, May 3 off to en­joy a long week­end, as Thurs­day, May 2 is a hol­i­day (Santa Faz).

Other school hol­i­days that will per­mit long week­ends are: Novem­ber 2, De­cem­ber 7, March 18.
