A TOTAL of €660,000 will be allocated to the residents’ and associations’ participative budget for 2019 by Orihuela council.

Councillor for the treasury, Sabina Goretti, noted that the municipality is divided into 11 districts – districts 10 and 11 are in Orihuela Costa - and each zone will be allocated €60,000.

The funding distribution is similar to last year’s, which outraged residents associations as it is not based on the registered population but on the districts and so is not weighted in favour of Orihuela Costa.

All residents on the municipal register are entitled to submit up to three spending proposals before the deadline on October 22 through the website orihuela.governalia.es/ participación

The schemes will then be assessed by council officers.

Those which are feasible and can be carried out by the council will be published on the website and residents can vote for their favourite projects from November 20 to 26.

The winning proposals will be included in the budget for 2019.
