U3A responds to Reach Out appeal

- By Barry Weston

AS has been reported in recent weeks, the Torrevieja U3A’s charity for 2020, Reach Out was experiencing serious troubles.

This was a result of the enforced closures of their shops and other outlets brought about by the Covid19 pandemic, together with potential problems with the taxman.

The committee promptly agreed to provide a lump sum donation to enable Reach Out to purchase some necessary equipment for the use of homeless people.

We are now pleased to confirm that as a result of this donation, Reach Out have now been able to take delivery of 25 sleeping bags, which will be used in the months to come to provide some comfort to those in need in Torrevieja.

The photo is from an earlier occasion and features U3A president Peter Shaw with Davy Young of Reach Out.

Meanwhile Reach Out is still urgently in need of volunteers on weekdays, including shop assistants, drivers, sorters, etc.

For more information on how you might be able to help the homeless, please telephone 96 571 30 63.
