' A Treat for Christmas' Campaign

AS the clock ticks down to Christmas, the annual ‘ A Treat for Christmas’ campaign has been launched by local British expat Caroline Tyszka. This has been something that Caroline has organised and instigated since 2015 for the benefit of those using the food banks in Alfaz del Pi and La Nucía. Although basics are always needed, Christmas is a time when it can seem particularly bleak for some families, especially the children, who do not fully understand the financial hardships being experienced.

Speaking to CBN, Caroline said “Something as simple as donating a bar of chocolate, a bag of sweets or seasonal biscuits can make such a difference to those using the food bank. It doesn’t solve their longerterm problems, but hopefully makes for a merrier Christmas”. Collection boxes have been placed at five local business, where you can drop items off: Fresh Radio at Camping Almafra, Giving4Giving in La Nucía, La Bodega on Panorama in La Nucía, Brew Rock, Albir and AJL Mechanics in Villajoyosa.

The campaign will run until Sunday, December 13.

Caroline said “It’s minimal effort on my part, with the community and local businesses spreading the word to their customers and filling the boxes. Without the generosity of everyone the campaign could not have been as successful as it has over the past few years.
