ARQUA mu­seum Paseo del Muelle Al­fonso XII, 22. Fea­tur­ing a per­ma­nent ex­hi­bi­tion of the trea­sures re­cov­ered from the frigate Nues­tra Señora de Mercedes. The frigate was sunk by the Bri­tish navy off the south coast of Por­tu­gal on Oc­to­ber 5, 1804 dur­ing the Bat­tle of Cape Santa Maria. ARQUA is open to the pub­lic from Tues­day to Satur­day from 10.00-21.00 and Sun­days and bank hol­i­days from 10.00-15.00. It is closed on Mondays. Castillo de la Con­cep­ción of­fers au­dio guides in English, French and Span­ish in or­der to im­prove vis­i­tor in­for­ma­tion. For a fee of €2, the guides of­fer vis­i­tors a full his­tory of the city, plus in­for­ma­tion on the cas­tle it­self, which is one of the city's old­est de­fences.
