THE STREETS and plazas of San Pedro del Pinatar are the venue of the first edition of the Allegro gastro-music festival tomorrow (Saturday, October 14).

The event combines live classical music and wine and food tastings in the main streets and squares in the town and is free.

It will be inaugurated today (Friday, October 12) at 21.00 with a concert by the Ars Futural instrumental band in the Cajamurcia cultural hall at Plaza de la Constitución.

The Allegro festival starts at Spanish aperitif time at 12.45 on Saturday in Plaza de la Constitución with a concert by the chamber orchestra Cammerata and a food tasting served by The Factory Burger and a glass of Gente de Mal Vivir vermouth.

The female duet On Danse will be performing a harpsichord concert and a dance show at coffee time (16.30) in the square of the Barón de Benifayó museum in Avenida del Pilar. The concert will be accompanied by a selection of coffees, pastries and cakes served by El Soldadito de Plomo bakery.

The festival finishes at 21.00 with a ‘symphonic’ wine tasting. The choir directed by Fernández Caballero and Murcia city orchestra will be playing traditional regional music in Plaza de España.

Traditional regional food will be served by Catering José Antonio and the winery and gastro-bar Vinissimo will be serving a selection of wines.

Councillor for culture Silvia Egea said the aim was to offer an alternative and new musical, dance and gastronomic event in the area to both visitors and local people and to encourage them to enjoy culture in the most popular squares in the town.
