Vice ring brought down
NATIONAL Police have freed six Moroccan girls who were forced to prostitute themselves in seven discos and pubs in Torre Pacheco.
Some of them were aged 16 and 17 and had entered the country illegally. They allegedly worked as waitress in bars owned by the procurers, but the premises were used to contact the customers. The girls were then taken to a different sites for the sexual services.
According to the National Police, the owners of the premises forced the girls to consume drugs and alcohol to encourage the customers to join them. They had to work long hours and were paid just €20 a day. A police spokeswoman said the girls had been given abortion pills and at least four illegal abortions had taken place. A total of 12 Moroccans and one Romanian have been arrested. They face charges including human trafficking, illegal abortion and drug dealing.
