Ground break­ing ADDA con­cert

By Barry Wright VA­LEN­CIA’S Palau de les Arts orches­tra re­turns to Ali­cante pro­vin­cial au­di­to­rium (ADDA) to­mor­row (Fri­day) fol­low­ing a break of three years.

The orches­tra will be the ‘back­bone’ of an en­sem­ble un­der the ba­ton of Josep Vi­cent.

The per­for­mance will be the pre­mier of a work en­ti­tled Leukante which brings to­gether for the first time on stage, fla­menco, clas­si­cal and elec­tric gui­tars.

Ig­na­cio Rodes, Kyuhee Park, Juan Manuel Cañizares and David del Puerto are the lead mu­si­cians in this multi-gui­tar sym­phonic piece.

The piece was writ­ten by David del Puerto and is ded­i­cated to Ali­cante.

The recital has been sched­uled to com­mem­o­rate Span­ish gui­tar day (Novem­ber 8) and takes place to­mor­row (Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 11) com­menc­ing at 20.00.

The con­cert also fea­tures Capric­cio Es­pag­nol by Rim­sky Kor­sakov, a se­lec­tion of suites from The Three-Cor­nered Hat by Manuel de Fal­las, and the leg­endary Concierto de Aran­juez by Joaquín Ro­drigo.

ADDA artis­tic di­rec­tor, Josep Vi­cent said of Leukante: “It is a cul­tural meet­ing of the high­est or­der that on this oc­ca­sion, from the point of view of mod­erni­sa­tion and the present, the Span­ish gui­tar de­serves.

“It will have as its cen­tral axis an ex­tra­or­di­nary sym­phonic mu­sic con­cert for three types of gui­tar, which act as the guid­ing thread for the or­ches­tral in­ter­pre­ta­tions. Del Puerto has man­aged to pre­serve in each lan­guage the essence of each in­stru­ment creat­ing a struc­tural el­e­ment of great sound pil­lars.”

Re­cuer­dos de una cá­mara fo­tográ­fica (mem­o­ries of a pho­to­graphic cam­era) by lo­cal res­i­dent Fer­nando Palazón con­tains 24 dif­fer­ent for­mat pho­to­graphs taken in the last three years. Pala­zon’s pho­tog­ra­phy fo­cuses mainly on the birds that in­habit San Pe­dro del Pi­natar re­gional park and the Mar Menor. The mu­seum is open from Tues­day to Fri­day from 10.0013.00 and 17.00-19.00 and Satur­days and Sun­days from 10.00-13.00. It is closed on Mon­days

En­tries must be ex­actly 1,000 words, ex­clud­ing the ti­tle, and in Span­ish (castel­lano) and should be re­lated to one of the two fea­tured pho­to­graphs by Joaquín Car­rión. There are two €500 prizes, one for the best story re­lat­ing to each pho­to­graph. Con­tes­tants may en­ter a max­i­mum of two sto­ries per pho­to­graph. De­cem­ber 30: ‚Live mu­sic and paint­ing‘ at the Vista Ale­gre ex­hi­bi­tion hall at 20.00. The event unites Is­rael Ni­colás and lo­cal jazz pi­anist EO Si­mon in a ‚con­ver­sa­tion be­tween two arts‘, in which Sr Si­mon will give a pi­ano jazz recital ac­com­pa­nied by the artist, who will be paint­ing live in front of the pub­lic. Ad­mis­sion to the event, in­clud­ing buf­fet, is free un­til the venue is full
