Ground breaking ADDA concert
By Barry Wright VALENCIA’S Palau de les Arts orchestra returns to Alicante provincial auditorium (ADDA) tomorrow (Friday) following a break of three years.
The orchestra will be the ‘backbone’ of an ensemble under the baton of Josep Vicent.
The performance will be the premier of a work entitled Leukante which brings together for the first time on stage, flamenco, classical and electric guitars.
Ignacio Rodes, Kyuhee Park, Juan Manuel Cañizares and David del Puerto are the lead musicians in this multi-guitar symphonic piece.
The piece was written by David del Puerto and is dedicated to Alicante.
The recital has been scheduled to commemorate Spanish guitar day (November 8) and takes place tomorrow (Saturday, November 11) commencing at 20.00.
The concert also features Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky Korsakov, a selection of suites from The Three-Cornered Hat by Manuel de Fallas, and the legendary Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo.
ADDA artistic director, Josep Vicent said of Leukante: “It is a cultural meeting of the highest order that on this occasion, from the point of view of modernisation and the present, the Spanish guitar deserves.
“It will have as its central axis an extraordinary symphonic music concert for three types of guitar, which act as the guiding thread for the orchestral interpretations. Del Puerto has managed to preserve in each language the essence of each instrument creating a structural element of great sound pillars.”
General admission is €20. For people under 30 or over 65 years of age admission is €14. highlighting the art of fishing, peculiar fish, shells and photographs chronicling the work of the fishermen
