Good neighbours care

Costa Blanca News (South Edition) - - Clubs And Charities -

THE ORIHUELA Costa Community Care Association (CCA) is holding two open afternoons for coordinators of Vecinos Colaborando, as well as other presidents and vice presidents of local communities in the area, to find out more about how it intends to help and assist people.

They will be at Alfonso’s Restaurant (by the Playa Flamenca town hall office) on Friday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 14 at 14.30.

If you would like to attend, either to find out more about CCA, or to maybe even volunteer, please call Penny on 96 676 08 14 or 688 284 040.

Further information about the (CCA) can be found on their website: www.orihuelacostacommunity By Susan Reader MJ’s restaurant in Quesada was certainly buzzing on Thursday with a Christmas fair to raise money for ECCH with donations on the door and a raffle.

There were various stalls and the traditional free tea, a fabulous lunchtime fashion show (compered by Creana P who is ‘Glamour Glamour’) with no less than five lovely models, who Jack Lowe escorted down the steps in true Hollywood style. Huge thanks to these ladies and to Jack who all give up their time to support the charity.

Complimentary pink cava was served to the VIP guests and after lunch this was followed by the sausage roll competition, sponsored by Spanish Life Properties SL from Ciudad Quesada.

Spanish Life Properties owner Mark Roscoe judged the entries with DJ Dennis Christian, world-class magician Jon Tremaine and local artist and art teacher Susanne Sayers. Mark said it was a fun event and the prizes were a meal for two at MJ’s, a pound of sausage meat and a wooden spoon!

The results were very close with Claire from Halfway House taking first place, Dean from Da Silva’s taking second and Lorri from Pepa’s taking third - it was a shame these master chefs were unable to attend but of course all three were busy working back at base! Congratulations and many thanks to Claire, Dean and Lorri, and indeed to all of the contestants who took part.

Next up is a dessert competition to be held at Leaf’s in Pueblo Bravo (Rojales) as part of the 2017 Christmas and Craft Fair on Monday, December 11 - so if you would like to enter or be a judge or obtain a voucher for free tea at the event then please contact Susan Reader.

Further event dates in December are Winter Wonderland III, a Christmas ‘black tie’ charity ball at La Vuelta in Rojales on Friday, December 1 - tickets are €35, and the last Glamour Glamour Fashion Show of 2017, ‘Step into Christmas’ is at The Vestry in Algorfa - tickets for a three-course lunch and the fashion show are €12.95.

Tickets for all events can be booked by email to sueinthesun@hot or Facebook Susan Reader.
