Torrevieja will be hosting a Guinness World Record attempt this weekend when 250 paddlers from seven countries try to beat the world 24-hour Dragon Boat distance record.
The current record of 247km was set by the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association in December. The attempt will start at 22.00 on Saturday evening and will finish at 22.00 on Sunday. The Spanish Dragon Boat association has chosen Marina International as the headquarters for the challenge. The event forms part of the second international Dragon Boat Festival, which is taking place in the town this weekend.
There will also be races at Playa del Acequión from 08.30-17.00 on Saturday.
