THE CINEMAPILAR English film association will be screening the John Madden-directed costume drama Mrs Brown on Thursday, March 22 at 19.00 and Saturday, March 24 at 17.00.
The film stars Judi Dench, Billy Connolly, Antony Sher, Gerard Butler and Geoffrey Palmer.
While on an extended stay at Balmoral Castle and still mourning the death of her beloved Prince Albert, Queen Victoria meets Mr Brown, a member of her household staff who thinks the time has come for her to start living a normal life. He soon gains the Victoria’s favour and friendship and his authority and status in the household are soon on the rise. This creates concerns among her many advisers who see their own influence diminishing and the Queen's reputation being tarnished. As a result, they move to ensure Mr Brown’s future influence in the household is kept in check.
Prior to that on Saturday, March 17 at 17.00 they will be showing the Tomas Alfredson-directed mystery thriller The Snowman.
The film stars Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jonas Karlsson, and J.K. Simmons, and tells the fictional story of Harry Hole, an elite crime squad’s lead detective, who investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominouslooking snowman. With the help of a brilliant recruit, the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.
Standard admission for all films is €5 for adults and €3 for children, however there are also two adult bonus ticket schemes: one covering eight films for €30 and another for four films at €15 - meaning savings of €10 and €5 respectively.
The bonus tickets are valid until they are completely used, there is no time scale and the holder does not have to visit each week.
