Mental healthcare in the community
THE GUARDAMAR mental health association (ASMEGU) has been busy this month, at a conference about carers at Torrevieja hospital, and going on excursions organised by the town hall.
Children and their families were among those who went on the first day out of the council’s recreation programme especially for people with functional diversity.
This consisted of a trip to Santa Bárbara castle in Alicante on Saturday, where they were able to enjoy extraordinary views and fun activities, including a visit to the city’s Palmeral park.
ASMEGU thanked the town hall for giving their children the chance to enjoy themselves on such a magnificent excursion.
Future trips are planned to Cartagena on April 21, a farm school on May 21 and Santa Pola on June 23.
For more information visit the public participation (Participación Ciudadana) office on the second floor of the town hall.
Last Wednesday, coach Joaquín Valentí spoke to mothers from ASMEGU at the conference ‘caring for the carer’ at Torrevieja hospital.
They said it had been very enriching and a chance to share many experiences, and thanked the hospital’s head of psychiatry, Dr. Jesús Enrique Mesones Peral, for having always supported the association.
