Cliffhanger mum rescued

Costa Blanca News (South Edition) - - News -

By Alex Watkins A WOMAN had to be rescued when her car became stuck hanging over the edge of a ravine after she went out looking for her son in the Crevillente countryside on Monday night.

Her father called the Guardia Civil at about 01.00 on Tuesday morning saying she had left several hours ago and her mobile phone appeared to have no signal, explained a spokesman for the force.

Officers spent over an hour searching along the routes she took regularly before they came across her car perched precariously with its front wheels dangling two metres above the bottom of the ravine.

The woman, a 47-year-old local resident, was still inside.

The officers helped her out and took her to the Guardia Civil station in the town, where her father was waiting.

Since the vehicle was a front-wheel drive, it had been impossible for her to move it, and she had decided to stay inside because the ground was so steep and she had thought it was not safe to go looking for help in the darkness.

The Guardia Civil did not report what had happened to her son, but it is likely his mother had plenty to talk to him about when he eventually returned.
