Residents and members of Orihuela Costa political party CLARO demonstrated on Saturday at the council car park next to Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. CLARO suggested that it could be used to house a cultural centre, which would include a library, an auditorium, a music school and rooms for training courses and meetings. Orihuela Costa has 20,005 registered residents, but no such facilities and the existing civic centre can only be used by elderly residents. The chamber of commerce suggested the council charge for the car park and invest the money in commerce and trade campaigns to benefit local residents. They pointed out that the car park can be used for free by all comers.
