PORK prices have hit a four-year high meaning the cost of bacon butties is on the increase.
Some larger retailers may absorb the cost but reports have already shown that prices are up between 20-50% in shops. Other pork products, such as sausages have undergone a shrinkflation, with Richmond sausages going from a 16 pack to 14 – yet it will come as no surprise, the price has remained the same.
Another everyday food product that has seen an unbelievable 91% price hike over the last year is butter.
Supplies are low as farmers prioritise cheese over butter because of better profit margins which may see a real shortage by the end of the year.
