By Es­ther Ráez Martinez CUDECA Hos­pice and the fundrais­ing group of vol­un­teers, the Cudeca Goldies, are hold­ing a raf­fle with a spec­tac­u­lar prize: A Re­nault Clio Life (75cv) val­ued at 9,990 eu­ros.

2,500 raf­fle tick­ets are avail­able for a do­na­tion of 10€ each. Com­pared to other draws the chance of win­ning is very high.

The win­ner will be the per­son with the same num­ber as the first prize of the ONCE ex­tra­or­di­nary draw on 1 Jan­uary 2018. The prize will ex­pire two months af­ter the draw. In other words, if the win­ning ticket is not pre­sented be­fore Fe­bru­ary 28, 2018, the prize will go to Cudeca. Tick­ets are avail­able at: The Cudeca Cen­tre in Be­nal­madena (Avda. Del Cos­mos S/N), Ruben Ex­change of­fices in Tor­re­moli­nos, Be­nal­madena and Fuen­girola and Ma­puchi Moda shop in La Cala de Mi­jas (be­low “Lush” Hair­dressers).

The raf­fle has been au­tho­rised by both ONCE and the Del­e­ga­tion of the Junta de An­dalu­cia in Málaga.

Cudeca will use the funds raised from this raf­fle to of­fer spe­cialised care and at­ten­tion to pa­tients with cancer or other ad­vanced ter­mi­nal ill­nesses and to pro­vide sup­port to their fam­i­lies. Cudeca will as­sume the reg­is­tra­tion costs of the ve­hi­cle in the name of the win­ner, or a per­son des­ig­nated by him/her; and the pay­ment of the cor­re­spond­ing IRPF with­hold­ing tax. The car will be avail­able to be col­lected at the Cudeca Cen­tre in Be­nalmá­dena. The win­ner will bear the cost of the car in­surance and any other ex­penses needed to get the ve­hi­cle on the road.

Cudeca staff are ex­cluded from par­tic­i­pat­ing in this raf­fle; as well as em­ploy­ees, Cudeca Goldies, vol­un­teers and col­lab­o­ra­tors in­volved in the or­gan­i­sa­tion and dis­tri­bu­tion of the raf­fle tick­ets.

They gave their tal­ent and time to help raise funds for the La Cala de Mi­jas Lions Club. Julie Barry, the pres­i­dent of the Club, thanked and con­grat­u­lated them on a won­der­ful evening of fun and laugh­ter.

She also thanked the ho­tel for the lovely three-course meal en­joyed by all in a mem­o­rable moun­tain set­ting. She ex­plained how the to­tal of over 400 eu­ros raised will go to wor­thy causes in the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

Recog­nised as one of the ma­jor clubs sup­port­ing those in need in the com­mu­nity, the Lions of La Cala are a lively bunch who want to help wher­ever they can.

Their events are al­ways some­thing to look out for, so do not miss the Christ­mas Dinner and Dance at El Olivo in La Cala on the De­cem­ber 9. This one is very pop­u­lar, and soon gets filled up, so put your name down as soon as pos­si­ble and do not miss out on a fab­u­lous evening. The Re­vival Band will be per­form­ing mu­sic from the 60’s on­wards. And a three-course dinner in­clud­ing wine, beer and soft drinks up to mid­night for 45 eu­ros is an amaz­ing price for such a fan­tas­tic event. And their Christ­mas Fayre this year, at the Tamisa Golf Ho­tel on the De­cem­ber 3 will start at 11am. With Fa­ther Christ­mas, Costa Soul singers and many stalls it is one of their big­gest an­nual events en­joyed by all.

The Lions big­gest in­come comes from their shop, in Calle Tor­re­moli­nos 12 in La Cala, which is manned by vol­un­teers. Do go along and have a look at their very rea­son­ably priced stock on of­fer and get your tick­ets. If you have any items clut­ter­ing up your home, take it to them where it will help your com­mu­nity. The shop is al­ways look­ing for vol­un­teers to cover hol­i­days and sick­ness, or to take on a few hours ev­ery week any time be­tween Mon­day and Satur­day from 10am to 2pm. So if you can spare any time for a good cause then please go along and sup­port them, you will have a great time and help those who can­not help them­selves.
