Cullera Aquópolis slide leaves man with spinal cord injury

A VISITOR to Cullera's Aquópolis water park has been seriously injured after going down a covered slide.

The 27-year-old had been bashed repeatedly against the sides of the Crazy Cobra, an oval-shaped slide that opens out into a huge snake's head as it hits the pool.

Paramedics called to the scene say he had no feeling in his legs and was unable to coordinate his arms, leading them to fear spinal cord in- juries which could leave him permanently disabled.

Witnesses say he seemed to have been flung out of the covered section of the chute, hitting his head on the top part before falling back into the slide, and was badly hurt by the time he landed in the pool.

The Crazy Cobra has been examined closely, and it is thought that a section of it may have come loose, causing the victim to be hurled clear of it briefly.
