New Gandia walkway closed
A brand-new bridge connecting Gandia port with the beach esplanade has already had to be shut due to a defect in the street lights, making it unsafe overnight.
The walkway, costing €1.3 million, only opened at the end of May, and will now have to remain closed until late July for repairs.
According to the council and the port authority, the electrical wiring – which runs for 'several hundred metres' and has around 400 connections – is not strong enough to guarantee 'proper lighting'.
As soon as the fault was discovered, the bridge was shut overnight, but once the works start it will be closed altogether.
