Orange thieves ar­rested

A well-or­gan­ised group of thieves who lived in Nules and Bur­ri­ana has been ar­rested af­ter po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions linked them to the theft of 300 tonnes of or­anges in Castel­lón.

In­ves­ti­ga­tiong showed that the group had its own van and colec­tion boxes la­belled with their logo, as well as, in ap­pear­ance, all nec­es­sary doc­u­men­ta­tion in or­der, although close in­spec­tion of the pa­per­work showed it was all fal­si­fied.

They man­aged to steal 310 tonnes of or­anges worth an es­ti­mated €40,000 be­fore the po­lice caught on to their scheme, which con­sisted of il­le­gally pick­ing the fruit and then ex­port­ing it to Ru­ma­nia, Italy or Turkey.
