Driver fined in town she claims to never have vis­ited

News staff re­porter A DRIVER from Lleida was fined by lo­cal Peñíscola po­lice for al­legedly speak­ing on her mo­bile phone whilst driv­ing through the town streets in Jan­uary.

How­ever, the al­leged of­fender claims to have never so much as trav­elled to the town in all her life, and sub­mit­ted her phone records to prove that she was not even us­ing the de­vice at the time spec­i­fied in the fine.

All her ef­forts to make her case have fallen on deaf ears how­ever, as the lo­cal po­lice dou­bled down on their ver­sion, and she will have to pay the €200 fine as well as los­ing three points off her driv­ing li­cence for the al­leged of­fence.
