Dénia gets tough on phone firm's din
A MOBILE phone company in Dénia has been ordered to soundproof its premises within the month, or the council will do so and send them the bill.
The firm may even be ordered to cease trading until measures are taken, if it does not cooperate.
Residents at the end of their tethers have filed a complaint with the regional ombudsman or 'grievances syndicate' (Síndic de Greuges), whose decisions are not binding but strongly persuasive.
Locals say they are suffering stress, headaches and hearing problems from the noise coming from the company, which has not been named.
The Síndic has ordered Dénia council to take action, which it has agreed to do.
