Police shortage complaint

Costa Levante News - - NEWS -

Only one Local Police unit and one Guardia Civil unit are on patrol each day in Los Alcázares, according to Socialist party (PSOE) councillor Mario Pérez Cervera.

Sr Cervera claimed that more officers are needed on the streets of the town to tackle rising crime.

He said that burglaries, robberies and hold-ups are on the increase.

The councillor reminded that the town has more than 15,000 registered residents and the number of police officers to protect the population is ‘highly insufficient’.

“It is a disgrace that official complaints can only be made in the mornings and the shortage of officers is papered over by increasing the working hours of the officers who are stationed here,” he said.

“A proper local security plan needs to be drawn up to address the lack of security and we will propose this in the next full council meeting.”
