Don’t boil – steam
Boiling certain vegetables instead of steaming loses many of their vitamins, minerals and powerful antioxidant properties.
Brocoli is one such veg and bubbling in a pot of water washes away much of the goodness – left behind in the green water.
Eating it raw is one of the best ways to benefit from its nutritional potential. Originating in Italy, it was bought over to Britain in the 1720’s and over 22 million tons is produced worldwide every year with China now the world’s largest producer, with over 8 million tons a year.
According to a survey, broc- coli is the sixth most commonly misspelt word in English.
