Rabbit overcrowding requires prompt aciton

Costa Levante News - - NEWS -

Hunters will have the green light to help control the rabbit population near Castellón airport, as the animals have turned into a safety hazard on the runways.

As well as authorising hunting expeditions, the company in charge of the airport, Aerocas, has invested €30,000 to reinforce the fence that surrounds the installations.

Spokespeople explain that, as well as the direct damages caused by the rabbits, their presence attracts birds of prey, which can in turn lead to issues for planes taking off or landing.

Meanwhile, hunters have stated that cleaning adjacent plots of land is also important to solve the issue.
