Coronary care for Benissa

Staff from Benissa coun­cil un­der­took train­ing in how to use a de­fib­ril­la­tor this week. The lo­cal health department has three of the ma­chines avail­able, one be­ing at the po­lice sta­tion, one at the sports cen­tre and one at the mu­nic­i­pal pool.

At­ten­dees of the course re­ceived in­struc­tions on how to use the ma­chine cor­rectly, fol­lowed by on­go­ing re­sus­ci­ta­tion treat­ment, in­clud­ing mouth-to-mouth and CPR where nec­es­sary.

The aim of the course was to im­prove re­ac­tion times to car­diac emer­gen­cies, and to be able to ini­ti­ate treat­ment be­fore emer­gency ser­vices ar­rive on scene.
