Godella to get more mobile masts
Mobile phone masts are about to be set up in Godella (L'Horta Nord) as a number of residents still cannot get a signal from their homes.
Mayoress and councillor for planning, Eva Sanchis, says local authorities are 'negotiating' antenna locations with phone companies.
“We want to make sure we can offer cover to everyone, but without putting up masts in places which could inconvenience residents,” Sra Sanchis explains.
Mass complaints have been reported in the past in numerous towns across Spain because of aerials being too close to homes or schools, as residents feared they could harm their health.
A recent court verdict means Godella's local byelaws regulating telephone masts has had to be scrapped, since only the State government has the jurisdiction to decide where they can be set up in the event of dispute.
