Another 24-storey hotel for Calpe
GROUNDWORK has commenced on the planned 296-room, five-star hotel on the frontline of Calpe beach.
The new hotel will be built on an empty plot at La Fossa, literally just a stone’s throw from the sea. With 24 floors, it is also guaranteed to block the existing uninterrupted sea views of those living in the private apartments behind it.
The project began to take shape before the crisis, back in 2006. An internal dispute, then the economic recession postponed the construction of the new hotel. Now, ready to begin construction, the excavators have moved in.
It was only a couple of months ago that a separate company had tried to expropriate the land due to it lying dormant. This seems, however, to have prompted the owner of the site to make use of it, and soon yet another five-star hotel will emerge on the shoreline of Calpe.
