A BRITISH man was seriously injured outside a cocktail bar in Moraira last weekend, following a heated discussion about driving.

A 45-year-old Columbian man, who had fled the scene before the Guardia Civil arrived, has now been arrested. He apparently stabbed the Briton three times with a bottle – twice in the torso and once in the leg. A Dominican man, aged 41, has also been arrested.

The Briton had been involved in an argument with the two accused earlier that evening, and a few hours later, they all appeared at the same cocktail bar, where the argument resumed. This led to a ‘great brawl in which at least seven people took part’, the Guardia Civil said in a statement.

During the fight, several men were injured by kicks and punches, but then the fight escalated when the Columbian man broke a bottle and thrust it into the Briton three times.

When the Guardia Civil arrived at the scene, the two accused had disappeared, but after several days of inspecting CCTV and gathering descriptions, the two were finally located.

They were arrested when the Guardia Civil found mobile phone footage of the bar on the Dominican man’s mobile phone.

The British man was transferred to Dénia Hospital in a serious condition. He will also be investigated for allegedly kicking the Dominican man, breaking his wrist.
