By Shelley Liddell DUE TO the increase in winter bookings made by foreign tourists, fewer hotels are closing for the winter season, and this winter, 236 hotels on the Costa Blanca will be open, offering 77,443 beds.

Benidorm currently has 15% more beds on offer than the same period last year, although from December to February inclusive, some hotels will close for upgrades, and the town will lose up to 1,396 beds during that period. Ninety per cent of the town’s self-catering holiday apartments will stay open; only three blocks are closing for the winter season between November and January,

Of the establishments that are closing, the majority are doing so to be refurbished, while others always close for the winter season, and a small minority do so for staff holidays.
