Councillor for tourism, Sofía Álvarez said at the presentation: “The objective of the route is to give the area exposure for its gastronomic tourism, using it to strengthen what people know of our municipality and its monuments,”
“We have opted for a top quality route, improving the prizes and its value for money, so that it fills Orihuela with life and revitalises the streets” she added.
Between them, the 24 participating outlets are offering a total of 11 traditional tapas, 15 gourmet tapas, six sweet tapas, and six gin and tonics.
Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite offerings in five categories: gourmet tapa, traditional tapa, sweet tapa, gin and tonic, and best establishment. For the best gin and tonic and best establishment categories people can vote through social networks.
Visitors are able to get a traditional tapa and a drink for €2.00. Gourmet and sweet tapas and a drink are €2.50, whilst gin and tonic prices will be set by individual establishments.
As a bare minimum the participants will be serving tapas from 12.00-16.00 and 20.00-23.00 on Friday and Saturday and in the morning only on Sunday. Should they wish they can continue serving outside of these hours.
