In­ter­na­tional Bridge Club of Calpe

We are a friendly club who meet By WBro Wil­liam Tur­ney Press Of­fi­cer, Pro­vin­cial Grand Lodge of Va­len­cia On Fri­day, Novem­ber 3, the Wor­ship­ful Mas­ter, WBro Brian Dun­can and his Lady, Beryl, vis­ited Ali­cante Univer­sity Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal to present a cheque for €4,300 to As­pan­ion, a char­ity for chil­dren with can­cer. The cheque was pre­sented on be­half of the Santa Faz Lodge No 48, and was re­ceived by Ale­jan­dro Gar­cia Gea, the Tech­ni­cal Di­rec­tor of As­pan­ion, who then gave them an in­sight into their work and a short tour of their fa­cil­i­ties.

As­pan­ion aims to en­sure the best qual­ity of life for the chil­dren and ado­les­cents with can­cer and their fam­i­lies, from di­ag­no­sis on­wards. They achieve this by work­ing in five key pro- on Sun­day evenings at 6pm for 6.15pm start to play du­pli­cate bridge. The Calpe Char­ity Shop

From Satur­day, Novem­ber 25 to Fri­day, De­cem­ber 1, the Char­ity Shop of Calpe is hold­ing a week long Christ­mas event. Along­side its usual range of cloth­ing and house­hold items, there will be home made cakes for sale daily, a great range of Christ­mas gifts, a Christ­mas raf­fle and spe­cial of­fers through­out the week. In ad­di­tion, the shop will be open 10am to 5pm on Tues­day, Novem­ber 28 and Thurs­day, Novem­ber 30. Open 10am to 1.30pm on other days. You'´ll find the shop on Avenida Gabriel Miró – half way up on the right hand side – in­side Galerías Mar Azul.

The Santa Faz Lodge No 48 raised this money from a va­ri­ety of fun ac­tiv­i­ties and so­cial events in­clud­ing a quiz, beach walk and BBQ, a Chi­nese meal, a ras­tro, a Straw­berry Fayre and a Valen­tine’s Day lunch.

The Wor­ship­ful Mas­ter would like to thank the many ex-pats for their very gen­er­ous sup­port and as­sis­tance with this year's Char­ity.
