Fault on Local Police line frustrates Xàtiva callers

Costa Levante News - - NEWS -

By Samantha Kett CALLERS trying to reach Xàtiva Local Police have been met with constant engaged tones due to a fault on the line, which the council says it was working hard to fix.

At the time of going to press, it is not known whether the number is up and running again, since no updates had been given since Monday.

Residents trying to ring the police from Friday onwards, using the local landline number – 96 204 98 99 – had been constantly complaining to the council that there were not enough operators to attend to all calls, since it was always engaged, or that someone had left the phone off the hook.

On investigating, councillor Mariola Sanchis found a breakdown on the line.

She has urged anyone trying to get through to Xàtiva Local Police to ring the nationwide hotline, 092, which will reach them without any problems if they have trouble with the 962prefixed number.
