HIGH COURT GRANTS BAIL TO FORMER OIC
Thajudeen murder case
The Colombo High Court yesterday granted bail to former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Champika Perera who was on remand allegedly for covering up evidence in the Wasim Thajudeen murder case.
He was granted bail of Rs 100,000 in cash subject to three sureties of Rs, one million on each of the three sureties.
The judge ordered that one of the sureties who stood surety for the suspect should be a close relative of the suspect.
He was further ordered to be present before the CID on the last Sunday of every month.
His passport was impounded and he was warned by the Judge to abstain from interfering with the prosecution witnesses or with the investigations. Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris earlier remanded the suspect during the Magistrate Court inquiry for suppressing evidence of the killing of former ruggerite Thajudeen..
