Civil movement wants Ravi’s assets revealed
The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection has made a request under the Rights to Information (RTI) to reveal the assets of Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection President Rajith Withanage said he had already dispatched an email to Parliament Secretary General asking that the minister’s assets be revealed.
“We are concerned about the assets of the minister as complaints have been filed against him with the bribery commission,” he said.
Asked whether he will get the information as there is a clause which says information regarding personal matters of MPS could be held back, Mr Withanage said there was no reason why the information would be withheld as Transparency International has asked for details of the assets of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Responding to this Minister Ravi Karunanayake told Daily Mirror that he submitted his income generation details to the Parliament every year as it was mandatory to do so.
“Anybody can have a look at my income statement from Parliament as I have submitted the details,” he said.
