Victoria exploring ways of investing in SL’S higher education sector
The Australian State of Victoria is looking at possibilities of involving itself in the development of Sri Lanka’s higher education sector, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said yesterday.
It said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in Australia, had met with Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews last morning to discuss the possibilities of exchanging expertise in the higher education sector and as such it had been decided to look at the possibility of opening up Australian higher education centres in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Wickremesinghe has invited Mr. Andrews to visit Sri Lanka and it was reported that the visit might take place next year.

Irrigation Minister Wijith Wijeymuni de Soysa, Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Harsha De Silva, Prime Minister’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Australia, S. Skandakumar and Sri Lankan Consul General in Melbourne W.P.S. Prasanna participated in the discussions.
