Vic­to­ria ex­plor­ing ways of in­vest­ing in SL’S higher ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor

The Aus­tralian State of Vic­to­ria is look­ing at pos­si­bil­i­ties of in­volv­ing it­self in the devel­op­ment of Sri Lanka’s higher ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor, a state­ment from the Prime Min­is­ter’s of­fice said yes­ter­day.

It said Prime Min­is­ter Ranil Wick­remesinghe, who is cur­rently in Aus­tralia, had met with Vic­to­ria’s Premier Daniel An­drews last morn­ing to dis­cuss the pos­si­bil­i­ties of ex­chang­ing ex­per­tise in the higher ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor and as such it had been de­cided to look at the pos­si­bil­ity of open­ing up Aus­tralian higher ed­u­ca­tion cen­tres in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Wick­remesinghe has in­vited Mr. An­drews to visit Sri Lanka and it was re­ported that the visit might take place next year.
