School­boy dies af­ter col­laps­ing dur­ing price­giv­ing cer­e­mony

A 12-year-old school­boy, who sud­denly col­lapsed on the ground dur­ing a school price-giv­ing cer­e­mony held on Wed­nes­day, was later pro­nounced dead. The de­ceased Ra­maiya Je­gadeesan was a grade seven stu­dent of Wi­je­yarat­nam Maha Vidyalaya of Sea Street in Ne­gombo and a res­i­dent in the same area.

He had been seated on the front row amongst the other stu­dents dur­ing the prize-giv­ing when he sud­denly col­lapsed on the ground.

The un­con­scious boy was then rushed to the Ne­gombo Hospi­tal but pro­nounced dead upon ad­mis­sion.

The corpse awaits a post- mortem to de­ter­mine the cause of his mys­te­ri­ous death. Ne­gombo Po­lice are con­duct­ing in­quires.
