KIA TO SPONSOR ROYAL COLLEGE RUGBY FOR 6TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

The renewal of the sponsorship came in ahead of the commencement of the Schools Rugby season, which is due to kick off on February 24.
Speaking at the briefing, B. A. Abeyrathne, Principal of Royal College, stated that the involvement of KIA as the main sponsor was one reason behind the success of rugby in the College in the past years. “We thank KIA Motors for their presence with us during the past years and we are grateful that they have stepped in as our sponsor this year also. We are looking to perform better this season, and would be competing with all our might. We have to build rugby in every way. Our aim is to play with good morals, and would be encouraging fair-play at all our games,” he said.
“Our support to Royal Rugby has given us a great deal of satisfaction,” KIA Motors Managing Director, Mahen Thambiah said.
“The teams are laying well and the development of playing younger players is making progress. We are committed to the success of Royal Rugby and look forward to seeing some inspiring performances from the boys this year,” he further added.
The Royal College First XV team would be led by fly half Ovin Askey, while eight coloursmen are set to feature this season. IA Motors ratified their sponsorship deal with the Royal College Rugby team as the sole sponsor for the sixth consecutive year at a press gathering held at the Royal College Sports Complex on Wednesday (15).
Chairman and members of the Royal College Rugby Advisory Committee and the Directors of KIA Motors were present at the event, which saw the signing of the sponsorship deal as well as the unveiling of the official First XV team jersey for the season.
