Dice players run amok in Baduraliya

- BY KUSAL CHAMATH

Four men were injured during a clash between two groups playing dice at a house in Penigala in the Baduraliya police area.

The injured were admitted to the Nagoda General Hospital in a serious condition. Investigations revealed that the dice playing had been going on for about two weeks to celebrate the new year.

The dice players who ran amok during the clash caused extensive damage to two nearby houses. During investigations, Baduraliya Police arrested five suspects on suspicion of the alleged assault and the damage caused.

Police said they initiated investigations to arrest several others wanted in connection with the incident. A senior police official said the dice players would be considered gamblers and that legal action would be taken against them.

OIC Baduraliya Police U.P.L. Udawatta and Sergeant Sumanaweera are conducting further investigations.
