Pre­vail­ing weather cre­ates havoc

Seen here are res­i­dents going about their daily busi­ness dur­ing the in­ter­mit­tent rains in Colombo and its sub­urbs. The Me­te­o­rol­ogy Depart­ment yes­ter­day pre­dicted that show­ers or thun­der show­ers were ex­pected across most parts of the is­land for the next few days. Cloudy skies are ex­pected over the is­land with a fairly heavy rain­fall of 75 mm ex­pected in some parts of the coun­try. In­ter­mit­tent show­ers or thun­der show­ers will oc­cur in the deep and shal­low sea ar­eas off the coast ex­tend­ing from Ne­gombo to Po­tuvil via Colombo. The Depart­ment also pre­dicted there was a 90 per­cent prob­a­bil­ity of show­ers or thun­der show­ers rang­ing from 50 to 100 mm in Colombo.
