Market up 1.6% during the week
During the week the All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained103.25 points to close at 6,632.30 while S&PSL20 gained 117.99 points to close at 3,915.42.
The daily average turnover was recorded at Rs.1.44bncompared to Rs.1.32bn reported during the previous week. Foreign buying for the week was Rs.3.2bnand foreign selling was Rs.2.9bn
On Monday Sampath Bank (SAMP) posted the day’s largest turnover of Rs.406mn. Total turnover for the day amounted Rs.1bn and the market closed down on a negative note with ASPI and S&PSL20 losing 13.21 points and 0.79 points respectively.
On Tuesday total market turnover amounted to Rs.2.15bn to which the largest contribution of Rs.899mn was made by JKH. Rs.338.30 .The market closed up with ASPI and S&PSL20 gaining 7.84 points and 37.32 points respectively.
Positive momentum continued on Wednesday with ASPI and S&PSL20 gaining 35.93 points and 36.46 points respectively. Total turnover for the day was Rs.1.9bn to which the largest contribution of Rs.925mn was made by SAMP.
Market rally continued on Thursday gaining 61.95 points on ASPI and 47.22 points on S&PSL20. Total turnover for the day amounted to Rs.1.4bn to which the largest contribution of Rs.263mn was made by COMB.
On Friday, JKH posted Rs.123mn in turnover which was the day’s single largest turnover, and the share price closed up 30 cents at Rs.163.30. ASPI gained 10.74 points while S&PSL20 declined 2.22 points.
