Kalthota hospital in Balangoda to be developed
Central Govt to fund project costing Rs. 70 Mn
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council has taken steps to develop the Kalthota hospital in Balangoda that provides treatment to about 500 patients a day.the project costing Rs.70 million is funded by the central government.
A ward complex would be developed with 50 beds, with improved facilities for in-house patients. Governor Niluka Ekanayake who visited the hospital to look into the preliminaries of the project said that the vacancies of the staff would be filled immediately.
Officials pointed out that the hospital that should have 14 doctors, 12 nursing officers and 32 minor employees was short of 12 doctors, 8 nursing officers and 13 minor employees. She said she had already taken up the issue with the Ministry of Health and was hopeful that the shortage of staff could be resolved soon.
