Dis­re­gard­ing peo­ple’s needs led to down­fall of Govt.: Anura

The 6.2 mil­lion peo­ple, who voted for Ya­ha­palanaya pulled away from the gov­ern­ment be­cause the au­thor­i­ties dis­re­garded peo­ple’s needs and ruled the coun­try with­out a vi­sion fo­cused on its cit­i­zens, the newly ap­pointed State Min­is­ter of Fi­nance said yes­ter­day.

He made this state­ment when he as­sumed du­ties at the Fi­nance Min­istry un­der the pa­tron­age of Prime Min­is­ter Mahinda Ra­japaksa.

“Peo­ple are very con­cerned about the eco­nomic cri­sis that the coun­try is fac­ing and how it im­pacts them. That is where the gov­ern­ment failed. They could not man­age the econ­omy, but bur­dened the peo­ple more and more,” Yapa said.
