Fa­ther-son duo found guilty of mur­der­ing neigh­bour

A 74-year-old man and his son were found guilty of killing one of their neigh­bours us­ing clubs and swords and stab­bing him with an iron spike in the year 2004.

The Panadura Pro­vin­cial High Court Judge who con­cluded the lengthy trial found the two ac­cused guilty of mur­der and passed the death sen­tence on each of the ac­cused.

The ac­cused Uk­wattage Don Tillek­er­atne alias Kaduru Lokka and his son

Uk­wattage Don Push­pau­mara of Poruwadanda were in­dicted by the At­tor­ney Gen­eral with com­mit­ting the mur­der of S Jayasiri of Proruwadanda in the Ho­rana po­lice area over four­teen years ago.he had died at the Ho­rana hos­pi­tal within hours of ad­mis­sion.

De­liv­er­ing the sen­tence the judge held that the pros­e­cu­tion had proved its case against the ac­cused be­yond rea­son­able doubt.

State Coun­sel Jayani We­go­dap­ola pros­e­cuted while the Ho­rana po­lice led ev­i­dence for the State.
