Chinese Company AVIC-INTL joins with Chinese Red Cross for relief efforts

Since the heavy rainfall hit southern, western areas of Sri Lanka in late May, the severe floods and landslides had caused injuries, casualties and property losses of thousands of families. Internatio­nal Emergency Response Team of the Red Cross Society of China, with the relief goods of the Chinese government arrived on 3rd June, 2017 for conducting disaster relief mission.

China National Aero Technology Internatio­nal Engineerin­g Corporatio­n (AVIC-ENG), affiliated to AVIC-INTL, as the Contractor of the Extension of Southern Expressway Project Section 1 from Matara to Beliatta, where was affected extensivel­y by the floods. Even though suffered in the flood damages, the Chinese company is still supporting the local government and people via series of relief activities. Chinese company AVIC-ENG also dispatched volunteers joining in relief team working from the flood peak period till now with China Red Cross Team on 8th to 9th June, 2017 in Matara area.

The Red Cross relief team and AVIC-ENG worked hard and helped homeless victims normalize their lives by establishi­ng considerab­le temporary shelters in various divisions of Matara area. The smiles and the appreciati­on of the displaced victims and local authoritie­s are greatly encouragin­g the joint team to work more for the benefit of the people.

The calamity has destroyed the homes of the people but connected the ties between peoples worldwide. As a Chinese company, AVIC-ENG not only perform well in projects such as A09 Road Rehabilita­tion, Runway Overlay at Bandaranai­ke Internatio­nal Airport (BIA) for the benefit of the Sri Lanka people but also focuses on consistent­ly performing his social responsibi­lity to strengthen the friendship between the people of China and Sri Lanka.
