DSB do­na­tes SRD 10,000 to Ken­ne­dy Stich­ting

The Ken­ne­dy Stich­ting on Mon­day re­cei­ved a do­na­ti­on of SRD 10,000 from De Su­ri­naam­sche Bank ( DSB). Lea Wel­zijn, ge­ne­ral di­rec­tor at the foun­da­ti­on, ex­plai­ned that the do­na­ti­on was ma­de in com­me­mo­ra­ti­on of the 70th an­ni­vers­a­ry of de­af edu­ca­ti­on in Su­ri­na­me. The Ken­ne­dy Foun­da­ti­on pro­vi­des edu­ca­ti­on and shel­ter to the de­af and tho­se with a hea­ring im­pair­ment. The­re are cur­rent­ly 88 stu­dents at the Ken­ne­dy school. 45 of them li­ve at the foun­da­ti­on’s boar­ding school. The foun­da­ti­on has a very small bud­get and is de­pen­dent on do­na­ti­ons and sub­si­dy to fi­nan­ce its ope­ra­ti­ons. The foun­da­ti­on poin­ted out that the hea­ring aids are not che­ap. The foun­da­ti­on has no­ti­ced a sharp de­crea­se in do­na­ti­ons which is why it ap­pre­ci­a­tes the do­na­ti­on of the DSB Bank. “It is a big help.” The foun­da­ti­on al­so stop­ped with the buil­ding main­tenan­ce so­me ti­me ago due to the lack of funds. The di­rec­tor ex­plai­ned that the­re are cracks in the wall and that the roof is al­so lea­king. She ex­plai­ned that the most im­por­tant thing is to keep the foun­da­ti­on up-and-run­ning. The foun­da­ti­on re­cei­ves sup­port from the Mi­ni­stry of So­ci­al Af­fairs and Hou­sing (So­za­vo) and the Mi­ni­stry of Edu­ca­ti­on, Cul­tu­re and Scien­ce. So­za­vo has al­rea­dy gi­ven the foun­da­ti­on a por­ti­on of the 2106 sub­si­dy.
