Oost-Westverbinding detour during Independence Day celebrations
Drivers who wish to drive along the Oost-Westverbinding (East West Connection) will come across a detour because of the celebration of the nation’s 41st anniversary of Independence Day in the Commewijne District. Drivers will have to opt for alternate routes to reach the main road and their destinations. The Oost-Westverbindingwill be off-limits to trucks from November 23 until November 26. On November 24 and November 25, Independence Day, the section of the OostWestverbinding that is located between the Liefongweg and the Tamansarieweg will be closed to all traffic from midnight until 10 p.m.
The crossing of Alkmaar– Tamanredjo will be off-limits to traffic on Independence Day from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. because of the military parade. Traffic signs will be placed along the roads to indicate the detour. Commewijne District Commissioner Remy Pollack pointed out that many guests are expected to attend the celebrations in his district. People who want to watch the military parade are being urged to head to Tamanredjo early.
