Times of Suriname - - ENGELS -

“The Telecommunication Company Suriname (Telesur) will not be sold to Chinese telecom giant Huawei,” Vice President Ashwin Adhin told legislators on Tuesday in response to questions from MP Marinus Bee (ABOP). Rumors that suggest that Telesur will be sold have been circulating for quite some time. The VP made it clear that the rumors are not true. He did point out that Telesur and Huawei are collaborating. “The Chinese company is one of the biggest telecom companies in the world and therefore has much knowledge and technology which Suriname could use to upgrade its own ICT sector. Huawei is one of the good partners in a development project aimed at improving our band width and infrastructure,” said the VP Adhin who added that the partnership will create jobs in the form of outsourcing.
