Po­li­ce in­ter­cept 552 ki­los of co­cai­ne

The po­li­ce on Mon­day af­ter­noon in­ter­cep­ted and sei­zed about 552 ki­lo­grams of co­cai­ne that had been put on a boat. The po­li­ce unit rai­ded the boat with the as­sis­tan­ce of na­ti­o­nal and in­ter­na­ti­o­nal se­cu­ri­ty agen­cies. The po­li­ce and the Coast Gu­ard re­por­ted­ly star­ted loo­king for a ship cal­l­ed Bri­se. The Bri­se was re­por­ted­ly spot­ted at a jet­ty in Li­vor­no. Re­ports in­di­ca­te that the 49-year-old cap­tain of the ship and 4 crew mem­bers are in po­li­ce cus­to­dy. The cap­tain told the po­li­ce that he dock­ed in Su­ri­na­me be­cau­se he was ha­ving en­gi­ne trou­ble. Po­li­ce of­fi­cer from the Nar­co­tics Bri­ga­de then searched the ves­sel with the help of fire­figh­ters and snif­fer dogs. They re­por­ted­ly found the drugs in pla­ces whe­re fu­el and other li­quids are usu­al­ly sto­red. One of the sus­pects was al­so in pos­ses­si­on of co­cai­ne. The po­li­ce on No­vem­ber 26 re­cei­ved in­for­ma­ti­on which in­di­ca­ted that a fo­reign boat was being pus­hed by ano­ther boat in Su­ri­na­me­se wa­ters. The 34-year-old cap­tain of the boat that had pus­hed the sus­pi­cious boat was al­so ar­re­sted pen­ding the in­ves­ti­ga­ti­on.
